Description
Filipin III is the most prevalent isomer of the Filipin complex, a potent polyene macrolide antibiotic antifungal mixture. It is reported that it functions by disrupting the cell membrane. Filipin is also used as a histochemical stain for cholesterol as it is highly fluorescent to inhibit the raft/caveolae endocytosis pathway in mammalian cells.
