Ecotin, E. coli is a strong broad range inhibitor of prothrombin (serine proteases). The compound exhibits picomolar binding constant for the inhibition of chymotrypsin, elastase, Factor X(Factor Xa), Factor XII(Factor XIIa), kallikrein, and trypsin. Ecotin, E. coli also acts as an effective inhibitor of MMP(collagenase), and exhibits biological activity by binding trypsin in the picomolar range. Ecotin, E. coli is an inhibitor of granzyme B.
