Data Examples
Western Blot | Detection of Human Eps8 by Western Blot. Western blot shows lysates of A431 human epithelial carcinoma cell line, MCF-7 human breast cancer cell line, MDA-MB-468 human breast cancer cell line, and A549 human lung carcinoma cell line. PVDF membrane was probed with 1 µg/mL of Human Eps8 Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF5529) followed by HRP‑conjugated Anti-Goat IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # ). A specific band was detected for Eps8 at approximately 97 kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted using . |

Background: Eps8
Eps8 (EGF R pathway substrate 8) is a 97 kDa member of the Eps family of proteins. It is ubiquitously expressed and serves as a signaling molecule for multiple RTKs, including FGF R, EGF R and PDGF R. Upon activation, Eps8 promotes endocytosis through Rab5, and Rac activation via IRSp53, Abi-1 and Sos-1. Human Eps8 is 822 amino acids (aa) in length. It contains a PH-like domain (aa 62‑173), an EGF R binding region (aa 296‑362), an SH3 domain that mediates homodimerization (aa 535‑587) and a Sos-1 interaction site (aa 648‑821). There is one potential alternate start site at Met261, and a splice variant that shows a 15 aa substitution for aa 676‑822.
